Maui Polo Club

The Maui Polo Club is one of the oldest and most storied polo clubs in the United States, dating back to 1888. Polo was first introduced to Hawaii only 8 years earlier by British Naval officers from the HMS Gannet, although it wasn't until native New Zealander, Louis von Tempsky, showed the game in 1897 to the Baldwin Brothers who owned the Mount Haleakala Ranch that the game took hold on Maui. Today, both the sport and the Maui Polo Club are still going strong and tapping into the rich Hawaiian Paniolo heritage.
