In November of 1968, the 4th annual World Surfing Championships were held in the warm Caribbean waters of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Featuring athletes from 16 countries, and showing that the shortboard revolution was in full swing, the contest was eventually won by Fred Hemmings (Men’s Division) and Margo Godfrey (Women’s Division).
